A Legacy of Excellence in Construction

As pioneers in the Western construction and infrastructure industry, we have long been innovators in our craft, helping shape the standards that guide our industry today. Our story began more than a century ago, when Adolph 鶹ý emigrated from Germany in search of new opportunities in America.

Our Journey Through Time

Adolph 鶹ý immigrated from Germany to New York in 1866 at just 17 years old. Trained as a stonemason, he was soon recruited by the California Artificial Stone Paving Company and traveled west, where his craftsmanship quickly earned recognition. Some of his earliest work can still be seen in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and near the Mark Hopkins Hotel.

After helping lay sidewalks around the original State Capitol building in Sacramento, Adolph started his own business. Explore key milestones that shaped the 鶹ý Family of Companies.
